Where do I begin …. at the beginning I suppose!
Channel7A is the natural progression from 7ahead which started life as a what’s on website for events in and around Edinburgh. Over time it made sense to narrow the site down to specialise in the Edinburgh live music scene and it grew to a listings and very active blog about just that. Now it’s channel7A .. live music blog, listings, live streaming and video!
I’m Sandy McGhie, originally from a small village called Lochmaben in South West Scotland I moved to Edinburgh via Dumfries, Manchester and Glasgow. I started 7ahead three years ago so depending on how you look at it, it’s all praise to me or it’s all my fault, or maybe somewhere in between. My background was in the building industry, which I totally hated, I left that behind and moved on to Desktop Publishing with 10 years at News International then 5 with the charity Erskine and after an H.N.C. in New Media I started 7ahead.
I love live music and I love all this digital media stuff so channel7A just makes sense! Other than work I’m happily single, love yoga and in my sensible youth was very good at table tennis, which I still play now and again at Wiff Waff Wednesdays over at Out Of The Blue Drill Hall! As for holidays ….. can somebody remind me what they are please!
Also on the staff is Kyle Wilson, originally from a small town in the Scottish Borders called Duns. I worked in radio for 8 years including running a station for a while and I’m still a huge radio fan …. as well as websites! Somehow I’ve managed to fall into gig promotion and I’ve worked with some awesome people. In the Summer I spend my time working small Festivals, living in fields and watching so much great live music and DJs.
To chill out I like to spend time on the decks when me and my friends become ‘bedroom DJs’, no ambitions to headline The Slam Tent!
