1. Chvrches


Distinctive & renowned Electronic trio Chvrches hit The Corn Exchange tonight as part of their final UK tour in support of their critically acclaimed debut album ‘The Bones Of What You Believe’ following a string of sell out shows. You can check out our review of the gig later this week!

Their new track ‘Dead Air’ (video below) is part of the ‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1’ compilation that’s been curated by Lorde & will feature along with The Chemical Brothers, Bat For Lashes & a whole host of musicians.

2. Identity Parade

 The first event featured a guest spot from guitarist Nathan Connolly (Little Matador / Snow Patrol ) & the tenth anniversary show at The Mash House welcomes him back as he and Alan R Davison, one of the event creators, perform a set including tracks of Davison’s plus Connolly’s own project, Little Matador, and a couple of surprises thrown in.

Current billed acts for the anniversary show are young, Ayrshire Rock act, Orthodox, The Lonely Together in the headline slot & the very talented Zoë Bestel with one more act yet to be announced. Look out for our review of this event next week!

3. Limbo – 7th Birthday


Limbo’s Seventh Birthday at The Voodoo Rooms sees up-and-coming Edinburgh bands Birdhead & Snide Rhythms play an exclusive double-headline bill with support from Wozniak. The headline acts both share equal billing and stage time, with the exact running order to be decided by a coin-toss on the night!

4. The Line-Up

Bringing you some of the best stand up comedy talent on the circuit! The Line Up has a changing rotation of comedians, you’re never sure who you’ll see there at 48 Below! Make sure and get down early for a good seat! Look out for our review of this event next week!

5. Jaco! The Music of Jaco Pastorius

One of the most influential musicians of the twentieth century, Jaco brought the bass guitar to the melodic forefront of jazz and pop music while propelling the rhythm with unstoppable energy. The Scottish National Jazz Orchestra is delighted to feature the extraordinary talents of bass guitarist Laurence Cottle in a celebration of the legendary sounds of Jaco Pastorius at The Queen’s Hall. Come early for Tommy Smith’s pre-show talk  Laurence Cottle! Keep an eye out for our review next week!

6. David MacGregor & Ahmed Dickinson Cardenas

 Ahmed Dickinson Cardenas & David MacGregor

The two Virtuosos of the guitar share the stage at The Voodoo Rooms playing a mixture of guitar duets and solo pieces, as well as narrating interesting experiences through the show. World-Jazz guitarist and composer, David MacGregor, and the Cuban Classical guitarist, Ahmed Dickinson Cardenas combine original music as well as Cuban, Classical and Jazz.

7. Rape Crisis Fundraiser

 A great night of live music & a raffle The Wee Red Bar, with some of the prizes being donated by Virgin Media, The Traverse Theatre & Gardener’s Cottage to raise money for Edinburgh Women’s Rape & Sexual Abuse Centre which currently has a 1 year waiting list.

Playing will be popular Edinburgh rock group The Industry who performed at The Leith Festival, Dundee Alternative Rock band No Egos, Little Love & the Friendly Vibes, who have all had great reviews & others.
